Responsibilities & Context

ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) has been responding to the Rohingya crisis since 2017, implementing programs in Protection, Site Management, Site Development, Self-Reliance & Livelihood, and WASH. With funding from IOM, AAB is launching a new WASH project and seeks an enthusiastic Associate Technical Officer – Water & Sanitation. Key responsibilities include: - Project Implementation (60% of time): Assist the Project Manager/Technical Officer in overseeing WASH activities per sector guidelines; conduct technical supervision and provide inputs; prepare drawings, designs, and BoQs; coordinate community mobilization; maintain O&M for WASH facilities (water supply, fecal sludge management, waste collection, water quality tests, waste treatment plants); manage community volunteers and labor; ensure functionality of facilities; supervise national volunteers. - Coordination and Communication (20%): Liaise with SMSD, NRM/DRR, government authorities (CiC Officials), and other stakeholders; coordinate with CMO and IOM Camp WASH Focal; arrange visits and share information. - Reporting and Documentation (20%): Collect, analyze, and report WASH data; document learnings and best practices; report gaps and advocate for standards; prepare monthly/quarterly progress reports; assist MEAL Officer with database analysis. The position requires understanding of engineering design, map reading, cost estimation, stakeholder liaison, and environment-friendly construction. The role demands gender sensitivity, respect for local context, and networking skills with DPHE, CiC officials, and NGOs. Contract: Fixed-term until 30 November 2026 (renewable based on funding and performance).
