At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, financial management, or audit. - At least 5 years in a senior managerial or leadership position in humanitarian, development, Red Cross/Red Crescent, UN, government, corporate, or reputable organizations. - Proven experience in budgeting, financial planning, cash-flow management, financial reporting, internal control, and audit coordination. - Experience with donor-funded programmes/projects and humanitarian or international organizations is an advantage. - Practical experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) or equivalent ERP/accounting systems. - Strong financial analysis, planning, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent leadership, team management, mentoring, and coaching skills. - Strong knowledge of computerized accounting and financial management systems. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. - Strong organizational, interpersonal, and stakeholder-management skills. - High level of integrity, accountability, confidentiality, and professional ethics. - Ability to work under pressure and during emergency operations. - Commitment to Red Cross/Red Crescent principles and BDRCS Code of Conduct. - Age limit: 50 to 59 years (may be relaxed for outstanding candidates).

Responsibilities & Context

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), the largest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh, is seeking a Director - Finance to provide strategic leadership for its financial management. The role involves planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, cash and fund management, financial control, compliance, and risk management. The Director will advise senior management and governance bodies on financial performance and sustainability, ensuring compliance with BDRCS policies, statutory requirements, and donor regulations. Key responsibilities include leading annual financial planning and budgeting, monitoring budgets and fund utilization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strengthening financial controls and compliance, overseeing ERP systems, managing audits, providing financial oversight of assets and investments, and supporting financial management during emergencies. The position is based at the National Headquarters in Dhaka and reports to the Secretary General through the Deputy Secretary General. The contract is for one year with possible extension.
