In Bangladesh, we started our operations in Dhaka in 1972, and since then we have expanded our activities from here to Rajshahi, Khulna, Bagerhat, Chattogram, Bogura, Kurigram, Gazipur and Sylhet. Our Programmes contribute to delivering on SDGs with a special focus on our target group to improve national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children. SOS Bangladesh is seeking competent candidates for the smooth operation of the following positions. • Project Name: STEP Project • Project Type: Partnership Project in Partnership with IDEA, Sylhet • Location of job: STEP Project location, Golapganj, Sylhet • Nature of Job: Multi years Project, Fixed Term Contract for One year (Yearly renewable based on performance) Mission of the Position: The Assistant Project Officer- DRR is responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate resilience, emergency preparedness, and community-based child protection interventions under the STEP Project. The position will work closely with communities, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Community Child Protection Committees (CCPCs), Disaster Management Committees (DMCs), Community Own Resource Persons (CORPs), local authorities, and other stakeholders to strengthen community resilience, protect children and vulnerable families, and promote sustainable disaster preparedness and response systems. Main Clients: • Vulnerable children and families • Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) • Community Child Protection Committees (CCPCs) • Disaster Management Committees (DMCs) • Community Own Resource Persons (CORPs) • Schools and educational institutions • Union Disaster Management Committees (UDMCs) • Local Government Institutions • Implementing partner staff • Community volunteers Key performance areas and main responsibilities: Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Resilience • Support community entry processes, stakeholder mapping, and risk assessments in project locations. • Assist in implementing community-based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities in accordance with the project work plan. • Support the formation and strengthening of Disaster Management Committees (DMCs) and other community disaster preparedness structures. • Assist in developing and updating community disaster preparedness, emergency response, evacuation, and shelter management plans. • Support the establishment and strengthening of community early warning systems (EWS) and dissemination of early warning information. • Facilitate community awareness sessions on disaster preparedness, flood resilience, climate change adaptation, water safety, and environmental conservation. • Organize and support community disaster simulation exercises, evacuation drills, campaigns, and awareness events. • Coordinate school- and community-based DRR awareness programmes and campaigns. • Conduct regular monitoring visits to assess community preparedness and implementation progress. Child Protection and Safeguarding • Support the establishment and strengthening of Community Child Protection Committees (CCPCs). • Facilitate awareness sessions on child rights, child protection, safeguarding, positive parenting, prevention of child marriage, child labour, violence against children, and other protection risks. • Promote safe identification, referral, and reporting mechanisms for children at risk in collaboration with relevant service providers. • Support c
