Responsibilities & Context

ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) is responding to the Rohingya crisis since 2017, running programmes on Protection, Site Management, Site Development, Self-Reliance & Livelihood, WASH etc. AAB is starting a new WASH project with funding from IOM, the UN Migration Agency. The Associate Officer – Hygiene Promotion & Community Engagement will supervise hygiene activities in the camp, facilitate training and meetings, and report to stakeholders. Responsibilities include: overseeing hygiene activities per project plans and sector guidelines; mobilizing communities for safe hygiene practices; supporting WASH Committees and User Groups; facilitating behaviour change campaigns; supervising hygiene promoters and volunteers; coordinating WASH NFI distribution (soaps, MHM kits, hygiene kits) via GDT, including muster rolls and PDM; organizing capacity building and developing BCC/IEC materials; developing monitoring tools and tracking progress; participating in JART assessments; leading hygiene responses during AWD outbreaks; assisting Technical Officer/Project Manager in planning and implementation; liaising with SMSD, NRM/DRR, government authorities (CiC Officials) and other stakeholders; attending HP coordination meetings; promoting safeguarding policies and ensuring team safety; collecting and reporting hygiene data for donor reporting; supporting assessments using Kobo; ensuring timely reporting of distributions; preparing monthly and quarterly progress reports; assisting MEAL Officer with CFM system; participating in proposal development. The incumbent will report to the Project Manager. Contract is fixed-term up to 30th November 2026, renewable based on funding and performance.
